Fat Tuesday and Skinny Sunday performances
I'm already in rehearsals for two upcoming gigs. Working on this, too, for March 16. St. Anthony Catholic Church, 11 N. Broad St. in Hillsdale is hosting a Fat Tuesday fundraiser, Tuesday Feb. 16 from 6:30 to 8:30pm in our parish hall. I'll perform, and I've also arranged for 20 or so of my closest friends to embarrass themselves for a good cause -- our hymnal fund. Admission is $5, $15 for a family of four or more. There will be a delicious selection of desserts, all of which you will presumably be renouncing for the following 40 days. We'll sing this unless you stop us: It's Lent, by the Dogma Dogs. On the first Sunday of Lent, Sun. Feb. 21, I'm guest directing a Choral Evensong at Holy Trinity Anglican Church at 263 Spring Street in Hillsdale. We will perform Lenten classics from different eras, all within the traditional Evensong liturgy. Our excellent choir is comprised of parishioners, students, teachers -- and fans of good choral music. The service begins at 4pm. Admission is free, there will be a light reception to follow. Some of the repertoire: Purcell Thou knowest, Lord The Secrets Of Our Hearts,?Palestrina Adoramus Te , Elgar Ave Verum Corpus and my personal favorite, Cherubic Hymn No. 4 by Dobri Hristov.
On a related note . . . look who's gettin' good at post inserts!!
